Chapter 2. Settings

Ring Tone

Volume
With the function 18, you can set the volume of the
ring tone. Th ree diff erent levels of volume are available
to you. To turn off the ring tone entirely, select
Your fax machine will automatically receive incoming
faxes without ringing. If your fax machine is set to the
manual reception mode, you can neither hear nor receive
incoming fax calls (see chapter entitled Setting the Fax
Reception Mode).

With function 16, you can select the default

resolution setting. Press MENU/OK,

Protected Fax Reception

You can secure your fax reception with a code. In that
case, incoming faxes are not printed out, but rather are
stored in the fax memory. Only after entering a PIN code
can you print out these fax transmissions. With function
27, you can input a PIN code, activate the secured fax
reception mode or print out stored fax transmissions.

Locking the Machine

With the locking function, you can prevent unauthor-
ised persons from using your fax machine. You can lock
either the entire keyboard or the number pad of your fax
machine.
