HW Setup and Passwords
This chapter explains how to use the TOSHIBA HW Setup program to configure
your computer and how to set security passwords.
When you configure the computer, the computer stores your selected values in
memory that is backed up by the internal battery powered Real Time Clock (RTC).
NOTE: If the RTC battery fully discharges, configuration data is lost. A
checksum error is displayed when you start the computer and the system
configuration returns to default values. To charge the RTC battery,
connect the AC adaptor and turn on the computer's power. The RTC
battery does not charge when the computer is turned off.

HW Setup

TOSHIBA HW Setup lets you configure settings for General, Password, Device
Config, Parallel/Printer, Display, CPU, Boot Priority, Keyboard, USB and LAN.
NOTE: If the supervisor password is set, access to the TOSHIBA HW Setup
program can be prevented when the user password is used to log on to the
computer.
Refer to the Supervisor password readme file for details on enabling/
disabling access to HW Setup. The path to the readme file is
C:\ProgramFiles\TOSHIBA\Windows
Utilities\SVPWTool. In the SVPWTool directory, open the
readme.htm file.

Accessing HW Setup

To run HW Setup, click start, click Control Panel, click Printers and Other
