Understanding Microphone and Speaker Behavior

The following table shows which endpoint handles a call when the phone is
connected to the network.
SoundStation IP 7000 connected to
the network and registered / Polycom
HDX or RealPresence Group system
Set Up for Video Calls Only
Video soft key initiates a Polycom
HDX or RealPresence Group video
call
Phone soft key initiates a
SoundStation IP 7000 audio-only
call
Video calls use either H.323, SIP, or ISDN (for Polycom HDX systems). Audio-only
calls use SIP (for SoundStation IP 7000 phones), or POTS or ISDN (for Polycom
HDX systems).
Not all Polycom HDX systems support ISDN. For information on which systems
support ISDN, see your system documentation, available by navigating to your
system from the
Video Support
When your phone is connected to a Polycom HDX system or
Polycom RealPresence Group system, your setup may include additional
microphones other than your phone's internal microphones. These
microphones can include:
Analog expansion microphones connected to your phone.
Microphone Arrays connected to your Polycom HDX system or
Polycom RealPresence Group system.
Analog microphones connected to your Polycom HDX system or Polycom
RealPresence Group system.
When you have a call—either audio-only or video—all microphones
connected to the phone and Polycom HDX system or Polycom RealPresence
Group system are used.
Integrating the SoundStation IP 7000 Phone
SoundStation IP 7000 connected to
the network and registered / Polycom
HDX System Set Up for Video and
Audio-Only Calls
Video soft key initiates a Polycom
HDX video call
Phone soft key initiates a
SoundStation IP 7000 or Polycom
HDX audio-only call. The endpoint
that handles the call depends on the
'HDX Call Preference' that is
configured for the Polycom HDX
system. For information on
configuring the HDX Call

Guide for Polycom HDX Systems,
