This chapter describes the types of originals you can set and how to place originals.
Originals
This section describes the types of originals that can be placed, the paper sizes that are selectable as
regular sizes, and missing image area.
Sizes and Weights of Recommended Originals
The following describes recommended paper sizes and non-recommended originals:
Original location
Exposure glass
Up to A4, 8
ADF
One-sided originals:
A4
Two-sided originals:
A4
• About 50 originals can be loaded in the ADF.
Non-compatible originals for the Auto Document Feeder
Placing unsuitable originals in the ADF can cause paper misfeeds or black lines, or result in damage to
the originals.
Place the following types of originals on the exposure glass instead.
• Originals other than those specified on "Sizes and Weights of Recommended Originals"
• Stapled or clipped originals
• Perforated or torn originals
• Curled, folded, or creased originals
• Pasted originals
• Originals with adhesive tape, glue, or paste stuck to them
