Installing WebLinx Administrator

It is necessary to install the Internet Development Kit (IDK) prior to the WebLinx Administrator in
order for full program capabilities. To start the install process, insert the AMX Control Disc into
your CD-ROM. In Explorer, double-click WLAdmin.exe from the directory window for your CD-
ROM drive or disk drive. Follow the directional prompts on the install to complete the installation.
To complete installation of the WebLinx Administrator on a Windows NT or Windows 2000
system:
1. Navigate to drive:\InetPub\WWWRoot\.
2. Right-click in the WebLinx folder and choose Properties.
3. Go to the Security Tab and select Permissions.
4. If the permissions "Everyone: Full Control" or "Guests: Full Control" do no exist, go to step 5.
Otherwise, permissions are fine.
5. Select Add and set List Names From to be the local machine, click Show Users, find and add
IUSR_machineName, changing Type of Access to Full Control. Then, select OK.
6. From the Directory Permissions dialog, ensure that Replace Permissions on Subdirectories is
checked, and select OK.
7. If you have already attempted to run WebLinx Administrator prior to this, you may have to
reboot to ensure permissions have been updated fully.
If you are installing NetLinx Studio on a Windows XP, 2000 or NT machine, you must
have Administrator rights to install and run all required System files.

Axcess hardware

For the WebLinx Server to connect and communicate with an Axcess Central Controller, an
AXB-NET Ethernet Gateway device running in server mode is required. This device communicates
through all Internet, LAN, or WAN topologies using TCP/IP. Refer to the AXB-NET Ethernet
Gateway instruction manual for complete installation and operation information.
The firmware version for both the Axcess Central Controller and AXB-NET devices
must be 5.0 (or higher).

NetLinx hardware

NetLinx hardware must be at a minimum an NXC-M Master and NXC-ME Master/Ethernet
Controller Cards.
