OPERATION
CHECKTHE OiL (BEFORE STARTING ENGINE)
NOTE:The engine was shipped from the factory filled with oil.
Check the level of the oil. Add oil as needed.
1. Makesuretheunit is level.Usea high qualitydetergent oil classified
"ForService SG,SH,SJ, SL,or higher".
2. Remove t heoil fill cap/dipstick (A,Figure 7)andwipewitha clean cloth.
3. Inserttheoil fill cap/dipstick andturn clockwise totighten.
4. Remove theoilfill cap/dipstick andchecktheoil.
NOTE:Do not checkthe level of the oil while the engine runs.
5. If necessary, addoil untiltheoil reaches theFULLmarkon theoil fill
cap/dipstick. D onotaddtoo muchoil.
6. Tighten theoil fillcap/dipstick securely eachtime youchecktheoil
level.
NOTE:Synthetic 5W30 motor oil is acceptable for all tempera-
tures. DONOT mix oil with gasoline. See Chart for oil recom-
mendations.

FiLL THE FUEL TANK
Thisengineis certifiedto operate on gasoline. E xhaust EmissionControl
System: E M(Engine Modifications).
Fillthefueltankwithfresh, c lean, u nleaded r egular, unleaded p remium, o r re-
formulated automotive gasoline with a minimumof 85 octane alongwith a
fuelstabilizer ( follow instructions on fuelstabilizer p ackage). DONOTuse
leaded gasoline. W erecommend t hatfuelstabilizerbeadded to thefuel
eachtimethat gasoline is addedtothefueltank.
NOTE:Winter grade gasoline has highervolatility to improve
starting. Be certain containeris clean and free from rust or
other foreign particles. Never use gasoline that may be stale
from long periodsof storagein the container.

AUTION:DO NOT use gasoline containingany
amountof alcohol as it cancauseserious damage to
the engine or significantlyreducethe performance.

WARNING:Gasoline is flammable.Always use
cautionwhenhandlingor storinggasoline. Turn
engineoff and let enginecoolat leasttwo minutesbefore
removingthe gas cap. Do not add gasoline to the fuel tank
whilesnow thrower is running,hot, or when snowthrower
is in an enclosedarea. Keep awayfrom open flame,
electricalsparks and DONOTSMOKEwhile filling the fuel
tank. Never fill the fuel tank completely; but fill the fuel
tanktowithin 1-1/2 inches(3.8 ram) fromthe top to
providespace for the expansion of the fuel. Alwaysfiii fuel
tankoutdoors and use a funnelor spoutto preventspilling.
Make sure to wipe upany spilledfuel beforestartingthe
engine.
Store gasoline in a clean, approved container, a nd keep
the cap in place on the container.Keepgasoline in a cool
weft ventilatedplace;never in the house.Never buy more
thana 30 day supply of gasoline to assure volatility.
Gasolineis intendedto be usedas a fuel for internal
combustion engines; therefore, do notuse gasoline for any
other purpose.Since manychildrenlike the smell of
gasoline, keep it out of their reachbecausethe fumes are
dangerous to inhale, as well as beingexplosive.
