OPERATION
CLEARA CLOGGED DISCHARGE CHUTE

ANGER:Hand contactwith the rotating impeJlerinside
the dischargechute is the most commoncause of injury
associated with snow throwers. Never dear or unclog
dischargechute with your hands, or while engine is
running. Fingerscan quickly becomecaught and
traumatic amputation or severe lacerationcan result.

A clean-out tool(A,Figure 13)isattached t oeither t hehandle orthetopofthe
auger housing. U se theclean-out toolto remove snow fromtheauger housing.

OPERATING TiPS
1. Mostefficient s nowthrowing is accomplished w hensnowis removed
immediately a fterit falls.
2. Forcomplete s nowremoval, slightlyoverlap eachswath previously taken.
3. Snowshouldbedischarged downwind whenever p ossible.
4. Fornormalusage, s etthe skids1/8 inch(3 mm)belowthe scraper
bar.Forextremely h ard-packed snowsurfaces, the skidsmaybead-
justedupward to ensurecleaning efficiency.
5. Ongravelor crushed rocksurfaces, theskidsshouldbesetat 1-1/4
inch(32 mm)belowthescraper bar(see"AdjustSkidHeight"in the
MAINTENANCE sectionof this manual). R ocks andgravelmustnot
bepickedupandthrownbythemachine.
6. Afterthesnowthrowing job hasbeencompleted, allowtheengine to
idle for a fewminutes, t o meltsnowand iceaccumulated o n the
engine.
7. Cleanthesnowthrowerthoroughly aftereachuse.
8. Remove iceandsnowaccumulation a ndall debrisfromtheentire
snowthrower, a ndflush withwater(if possible)toremove all salt or
otherchemicals. Wipesnowthrower dry.
9. Before startingsnowthrower, a lwaysinspectaugers and impellerfor
iceaccumulation and/ordebris,whichcouldresultin snowthrower
damage.
10. Checkoil levelbefore everystart.Makesurethe oil is attheFULL
markontheoil fill cap/dipstick.
