MAINTENANCE
SPEEDCONTROL RODADJUSTMENT
If thespeedcontrolrod (A,Figure27) requiresadjustment, seean author-
izeddealer for assistance.
CHECK ANDADJUSTTHECABLES
Thecables areadjusted atthefactoryandnoadjustment s houldbeneces-
sary.If thecableshavebecome stretched or aresaggingadjustmentwill be
necessary.
Whenever beltsareadjusted or replaced, thecables will needto bead-
justed.
AUGER CONTROL CABLE ADJUSTMENT

WARNING:Do not over-tighten,as this may lift the
lever and causethe auger drive to be engaged with-
out depressingtheauger drive control.
1. Withtheaugerdrivecontrolleverreleased, thehook(A, Figure28)
shouldbarelytouchthelever(B)withoutraisingit. Therecanbea
maximum of 1/32"(0.8mm) clearance.
2. Toadjust,loosenthenut (C)by holdingtheadjusting flats(D)and
turningthenut.Then,turntheadjusting flatsandhold the adjust-
mentscrew(E).Theadjustment s crewis a phillipsscrewandthe
headcanbeheldor turnedby inserting a screwdriver throughthe
spring(F).
3. Holdtheadjustingflatsandtightenthenut.
4. Starttheengine and checktheauger.Theaugermustnotbe engaged
unlesstheaugerdrivecontrolleveris depressed.
5. Withtheenginerunning,fully depress theaugerdrivecontrollever.
Theaugershouldengage andrun normally.
6. Release theauger drivecontrollever. T heaugermuststopwithin5
seconds.
7. If theaugerdoesnotoperate properly, s toptheengine andrecheck
theaugerdrivecableadjustment.
8. If thedrivelinkageis properly adjusted, t hetensionof theaugerdrive
beltmayrequire an adjustment (see"BeltAdjustment" section).
