Placethe newfilter in an open panwith the open sidefacing up.
Fillwith newoil untilthe oil reachedthe bottomof the threads.
Waittwo minutesforthe oil to be absorbedby the filter material.

Applya thinfilm of cleanoil to the rubbergasketon the filter.
9.
Carefullyinstallthe newfilter.
10. Refillthe enginewith the recommended oil and checkthe oil
level; referto Checkingand Adding Oil in theAssemblySection.
Reinstallthe oil filler cap/dipsticksecurely.
Reconnectspark plugwire.

Removethe air filtercover.See Figure25.

DONOTcheckfor a sparkwith the sparkplug removed.DONOT
crank the enginewith the sparkplug removed.
If the enginehas been running,the mufflerwill be very hot. Be cardul
notto touch the muffler.
The spark plugshouldbe checkedevery 25 hoursand changedonce
a seasonor every 100hours.Toensureproperengineoperation,the
spark plug mustalsobe properlygappedand freeof deposits.

Removethe spark plugboot and usea spark plugwrenchto
removethe plug,Figure26.

Removethe air filterand pre-cleaner.
3.
Removethe pre-cleanerfromthe air filter.
4.
Replaceor washthe pre-cleanerin warm waterwith detergent.
Rinsethoroughlyand allowthe pre-cleanerto air dry.

Closethe air filter cover.

Removethe air filterand pre-cleaner.
3.
Servicethe pre-cleaneras instructedabove.
4.
Installthe newor servicedpre-cleaneroverthe newair cleaner
and install.

Visuallyinspectthe sparkplug. Discardthe sparkplug if thereis
any apparentwear,or if the insulatoris crackedor chipped.Clean
the spark plugwith a wire brushif it is to be reused.
