put on heavy leather gloves to protect your
fingers and hands.
remove any sawdust or debris from the head
of the insert, torx screw, and the surrounding
area.
remove the torx screw and the insert, then
clean all dust and debris from both parts and
the pocket they were removed from.
Note: Proper cleaning of the insert, Torx
screw, and the cutterhead pocket is critical to
achieving a smooth finish. Dirt or dust trapped
between the insert and cutterhead will slightly
raise the insert, and make noticeable marks
on your workpiece the next time you cut.
Tip: Use low-pressure compressed air or a
vacuum nozzle to clean out the cutterhead
pocket.
replace the insert so that a fresh cutting
edge faces outward.
— if all four insert cutting edges have been
used, replace it with a new one. always
position the reference dot in the same posi-
tion when installing a new insert to aid in
the rotational sequencing.
lubricate the torx screw threads with a small
amount of light machine oil, wipe the excess
off, and torque the screw to 50–55 inch/
pounds.
Note: If you use the included air pressure
torque wrench, refer to the detailed instruc-
tions on the next page for its use.
