Adjusting
the
sound
You can adjust
all of your television's
sound
functions
by using a
pair of buttons:
select a function
with the AUDIO button
and
adjust
the function
with the up/down
or fight/left
buttons.
You use
these buttons
to:
select a position
(e.g., stereo),
increase
or decrease
the function
(e.g., bass), or
shift from one end of a scale to the other (e.g., balance).
After adjusting
the sound, an on-screen
display
will indicate
the
function
and level you've selected.

"Listen
to: Stereo/SAP/Mono"
allows you to chan_.:e the audio recep-
tion mode to stereo, separate
audio programming
(SAP), or monau-
ral (mono), depending
on the type of broadcast
you are receiving.
As you select the reception
mode, remember
the tbllowing:
The "Stereo"
setting
allows you to receive both mono and stereo
broadcasts.
The separate
audio programming
("SAP") setting
offers you the
option of listening
to either
of two separate
a_dio program,_.
For example,
a combination
television]radio
sl;ation may broad-
cast through
the TV.
The "Mono" setting
reduces
unwanted
back_)und
noise when
you are receiving
a weak stereo broadcast.
When you use the
"Mono" setting,
you will hear the broadcast
in monaural
even
when the broadcast
signal is in stereo.
An on-screen
display
appears
when programs
are broadcast
in
stereo
or when separate
audio programming
(SAP) is available.
"Bass" controls
the volume of low frequency
sourLd.
"Treble"
controls
the volume
of high frequency
sound.
"Balance"
adjusts
the level of sotmd between
the left and right
speakers.
"Surround:off]Simulate/Hair'
allows you to create
simulated
surround
stereo effects.
"Off' does not change
the sound.
"Simulate"
gives you a simulated
stereo
effect when you are
listening
to a monoaural
broadcast.
"Hall" makes stereo
som_d
have a wider
range and seem to extend
around
behind
you.
"Speaker:
On/Off' turns
the TV',_ internal
speakers
on or off. Set to
"On" for normal
operation;
set to "Off' is you ha,re connected
your
TV to an audio system.
