Introduction

Creating a Client
CHAPTER 4
Image
This chapter describes how to use Client Builder to create a client
image on the Image Manager server.
The Client Builder component of Neoware Image Manager makes
a complete image of a system partition (hard disk) based on the size
of the partition, not its contents. It is recommended that the size of
the partition is adjusted once all software has been installed (using
PowerQuest Partition Magic, for example). If the partition is too
big then the image created from it will have a negative effect on
manageability and make administration and backups more
difficult. However, performance is not affected by partition size.
The partition size should ideally be under 16 GB. If extra storage is
required, you can use a network shared directory housed by a
Windows, Samba or CIFS/SMB compatible server. It is also
recommended that the partition is defragmented before the image is
built.
