Managing Local
CHAPTER 10
Hard Disk Access
This chapter describes how to enable or disable client access to
local hard disks.
Neoware Image Manager clients can be customized in order to
enable or disable access to local hard disks. This is achieved using
the Local HD Manager wizard
The Local HD Manager wizard modifies a virtual disk image so
that client local hard disks can be made available or unavailable,
and enable new local HDs to be accessed (that is local hard disks
that have never been detected nor used by the Windows instance
currently running) without rebooting the clients. This is very useful
when the volume write mode is set to volatile.
Local HD Manager should be run only on diskless clients. When
run on clients booted off actual HDs, if local HD access is dis-
abled, Windows won't be able to access the local HDs after a
reboot and then won't be able to complete the boot process.
Once the client computers boot correctly with Neoware Image
Manager, use Local HD Manager as follows:
1
Shutdown all the clients.
