Understandng the "Define a New Array" Wndow
Use the Define a New Array wndow to
■ Select the RAID Mode
■ Set up the Strpng Block
■ Specfy whch dsks to use for the RAID Array
The SATA ports are called channels and they are assocated wth adapters. The first
dgt n the Locaton field defines the adapter that the port s assocated wth. The 2nd
dgt defines the channel.
In the example above, 1.0 means the hard drve s attached to Adapter 0, Channel 1.
The followng s a reference lst of some possble combnatons:
Seral ATA

Important
There s no such thng as Slave drve n Seral ATA. All drves are consdered to be Mas-
ter snce there s a one to one connecton between the drve and the controller.
