OPERATING THE APPLIANCE

Button(s)
Description
The amplifier is switched on and off using this button at the front panel.
After switching on, the LED (2) located at the front panel flashes for about
five seconds while the preamplifier's protective circuit is active and muting
the output. The LED is lit permanently as long as the amplifier is active.
When switched off the device is not internally separated from the AC
POWER (1)
power and reacts to a signal at one of the inputs "Power Control" (5). That
is why it cannot be deactivated if a device connected to this input provides
the amplifier with the POWER CONTROL signal.
As a precaution, before switching on, the volume setting of the preamplifier
should be reduced.
Here you can select if the power amplifier is provided with the preamplifed
input signal at the XLR or at the RCA connector at the rear of the unit. If set
to "XLR", the SP-998 cannot process a signal connected to the RCA con-
XLR/RCA (3)
nector but expects the signal via the XLR connector.
Do not use this switch while the amplifier is switched on. In this case a loud
switching noise may stress the loudspeakers.
