"OIL"
Display and measurement of the engine
oil level
Caution!
Risk of engine damage.
f Regularly check the oil level before refuelling.
f Do not allow the oil level to fall below the mini-
mum mark.
Conditions for measuring the oil level
1. Engine idling.
2. Engine is at operating temperature.
3. Vehicle is level.
4. Vehicle stationary.
Switching on selection field "A"
f Push operating lever forward.
Initiating oil level measurement
f Select "OIL" with the operating lever.
f Push operating lever forward.
f Push operating lever forward.
Measurement is started.
The waiting time for oil level measurement is indi-
cated by a time display and "cycling" segments of
the oil level display.
Once the measurement has been completed, you
can read off the engine oil level on the segment
display.
If the oil level has fallen below the min. mark, the
segment below the min. mark flashes.
The difference between the min. and max. marks
on the segment display is approx. 2 liters
(2.13 quarts).
One segment of the display corresponds to a
quantity of approx. 0.3 liters (0.31 quart).
f Top up engine oil.
Never add more engine oil than required
to reach the max. mark.
f Please observe the chapter "ENGINE OIL LEV-
EL" on Page 119.
Info
The "Info" function allows you to call the prerequi-
sites for oil level measurement.
Failure
A failure of the oil level display is indicated by a
warning message in the on-board computer.
