Introduction

This chapter covers how to set up your Windows account on your Smart Media
Console (SMC). This is necessary when you turn the SMC on for the fi rst time.

Starting the SMC for the First Time

Note: A mouse and keyboard is necessary for this setup procedure� You can use
either the wireless keyboard or a USB mouse and keyboard�
Before you power up the SMC, do the following:
1�
Make sure the video and audio cables are connected before you turn on the
display and the SMC�
2�
Make sure that either the wireless keyboard has batteries in it and is turned
on, or the USB keyboard and mouse are connected to the rear panel USB
ports�
3�
Connect all audio and video equipment, apply power and turn on all
connected system equipment such as TVs, set-top-boxes, and A/V
receivers�
4�
Make sure that the SMC is connected to the network and that you have a
working Internet connection�
5�
Plug the SMC's AC power cable into a wall outlet� Use a surge protector to
prevent power surges or voltage spikes�
6�
Fully cover and press the
(behind the Russound logo) until it turns blue, and the unit turns on�
