WARNING
An insufficient slack (A) between the
brake disc (13) and the brake caliper
support (14) may cause damage to the
brake disc, with consequent reduction
of the braking efficiency.
Minimum slack (A): 0.024 in (0.6 mm).

Insert a 0.024 in (0.6 mm) thickness
gauge (15) between brake disc (13) and
brake caliper support (14).
Perform this operation on the outer side
(B) and inner side (C) of both brake
discs.

If the slack is irregular, repeat the previ-
ous operations marked with
When the slack results regular.

Place the vehicle on the stand, see p. 85
(PLACING THE VEHICLE ON THE
STAND).

Tighten the two axle clamp screws (8)
(left side), using the appropriate Allen
wrench.
Axle clamp screw (8) tightening torque:
7.23 ftlb (10 Nm).

Refit ABS sensor.
◆
Ensure that the following components
are neither dirty nor oily:
√ tire;
√ wheel;
√ brake discs;
√ phonic wheel.
After servicing the brakes, always
check them for function. If the stroke of
the lever or pedal is excessive, or if you

brakes is reduced in any way, have your

Dealer. It may be necessary to have
your dealer bleed the system, or there
may be some other problem with the
brake system.
Never ride your vehicle in traffic imme-
diately after servicing the brakes. Al-
ways apply the brake pedal or lever sev-
eral times before riding your vehicle.
Then, try your vehicle in a parking lot or
other safe area with little traffic to en-
sure that the brakes are working proper-
ly. Failure to observe this warning can
lead to a serious accident with subse-
quent serious injury or death.
Have the tightening torques, centering
and balancing of the wheel checked by
your Local aprilia Dealer. These are
critical safety operations, and failure to
observe this warning could lead to an
upset with subsequent serious injury or
death.
