When component connections are made to a TV that is progressive-
compatible, the video output format can be switched between

interlace and progressive scan as determined by the kind of image that
16:9(Wide)

is being played back. This setting can only be changed when the

component video output selection switch on the rear panel is set to
"menu select" (page 16).

Settings: Progressive (Select for high image quality when the

• When the connected TV, monitor, or projector is not progressive-
compatible, but "Progressive" is selected in this setting, no images are
produced. If a mistake is made in this setting, change the video
component output switch on the rear panel to "525i (480i)".
• When the video output is switched from Interlace to Progressive or
from Progressive to Interlace, the video image may be disrupted for a
moment.

Adjusting Audio and Video Settings

Auto Progressive (Switches to progressive scan when 16:9
DVD discs are played, 4:3 DVD discs uses interlace setting.
Your TV/monitor must be compatible with progressive scan
to use this setting.
