Operation Safety

Damage to your eyes, lungs, and ears could
result from using this machine without
proper protective gear. Always wear safety
glasses, a respirator, and hearing protection
when operating this machine.
Loose hair and cloth-
ing could get caught in
machinery
serious personal injury.
Keep loose clothing and
long hair away from mov-
ing machinery. Remove
watches, rings, bracelets,
and other jewelry from
hands, wrists, and neck
before operating the mill.
NOTICE
If you have never used this type of machine
or equipment before, WE STRONGLY REC-
OMMEND that you read books, trade maga-
zines, or get formal training before begin-
ning any projects. Regardless of the con-
tent in this section, Grizzly Industrial will
not be held liable for accidents caused by
lack of training.

Whether using the vertical or horizontal spindle,
you need to 1) determine the RPM needed to cut
your workpiece, and 2) adjust the V-belts in the
access panel for the spindle you will use for the
operation.
To determine the needed RPM:

speed. These values are a guideline only. Refer to
the MACHINERY'S HANDBOOK for more detailed

Setting RPM

Use the table in Figure 13 to determine the
cutting speed required for the material of your
workpiece.

Use the following formula to determine the
needed RPM for your operation:
(Cutting Speed x 4) / Tool Diameter = RPM
