5. Check the rotor air gap, .017" minimum is allowed.
6. Using a 7/16" nutdriver and a 7/16" open-end wrench, attach the two bolts, nuts, lock washers and
flat washers securing the brush holder bracket to the exciter stator frame.
7. Perform the Exciter Brush Replacement Procedure.
8. Using a 1/2" nutdriver, loosen the nut securing the negative battery cable to the battery. See
Wiring Diagram.
9. Perform the Retest After Repair Procedure.
