Note
If the engine has been under heavy load for
an extended per iod, heat builds up in the en-
gine compartment after the engine is switch-
ed off- there is a risk of damaging the eng ine.
Allow the engine to run at idle for about two
m inutes before switching it off .

Switching the ignition on/off
If you wou ld like to switch the ign ition on wit h-
out starting the eng ine, follow these steps :

• To switc h the ignition off, press the button
again .

Diesel vehicles* are preheated while the ignition
is switched on.
When starting t he engine, majo r electrical loads
are switched off temporarily.
If the engine should not start immediately, the
sta rt ing process is aut omatically st opped after a
sho rt time. Repeat st arti ng procedure.

WARNING

- Never allow the engine to run in conf ined
spaces - danger of asphyx iat ion.
- Always take the key with you whenever you
leave your vehicle . Otherwise, the eng ine
could be started or elect rical equipmen t
such as the powe r windows could be operat-
ed . This can lead to ser ious injury.
- Never leave children or persons requi ring as-
sistan ce unattende d in the vehicle. The
doors can be locked using the remote t rans-
mitter, preventing peop le from escaping
from the vehicle on their own in the event of
an emergency. Depending on the time of
year, people inside the vehicle can be ex-
posed to very high or very low tempera -
tures .

Note
Avoid high engine rpm, full throttle and heavy
engine loads until the engine has reached op-
erating temperature - otherwise you risk en -
gine damage.

For the sake of the environment
Do not let the engine run wh ile parked to
warm up. Begin driving immed iate ly. This re-
duces unnecessa ry emissions .

Tips
- Some noise after start ing the engine is nor-
ma l and is no cause for concern.
- If you leave the vehicle with the ignition
switched on, the ignit ion will switch off af-

ter a certain per iod of ti me . Please note t hat
