Malfunction in the electronic different ial
lock (EDL )
The EDL works together with the ABS. The ABS
warning light wi ll come on if there is a ma lfunc-
tion in the EDL system

WARNING
- If the ~
(USA models)! IIJ (Canada mod-
els) warn ing light does not go out, o r if it
comes on while d riving, the ABS system is
not working prope rly. The vehicle can then
be stopped only with t he st a ndard brakes
(withou t ABS). You wi ll not have the protec -
tion ABS provides. Contact yo ur authorize d
Audi dealer as soon as possible .

els) brake system indicator light t urns on to-
gether wit h the ABS and ESC indicato r
lights, the ABS/ESC regulating function may
have failed. Functions that stab ilize the ve-
hicle are no longe r available . This could
ca use the vehicle to swerve and increase t he
ris k of sliding. Drive ca refully to the near es t
autho rized Audi dealer or othe r quali fied
wor kshop and have the ma lfunction correct-
ed.

Electromechanical
parking brake
The warning/indicator light monitors the elec-
trome chanical parking brake.
W ith t he parki ng brake applied and the ignition
tur ned on, the .

light illuminates .
Afte r the ign itio n has been tu rned off, the wa rn-
ing/i ndicator light co ntin ues to illum ina t e fo r
about 30 seconds . If the parking bra ke is applied
with the ignition t urned off, the warning/indica-
tor light illuminates for abo ut 30 seconds.
The warning/indicator
ligh t will go out when t he
parking brake is re leased .

If t he war ning/ indicato r light flashes cont inuo us-
ly after applying t he par king bra ke, braking force
is not suff icient t o prevent the ve hicle from roll-
ing unintentiona lly. Please note the following :

- If the slope of the groun d is too steep to park
the vehicle, the add itiona l drive message ap -
pea rs Caution: Vehicle parked too steep.
- In the event of a pa rking brake malfunction,
the yellow

symbol appears in the instru-
ment cluster display and the driver message
Parking brake malfunction! is d isplayed . Have
the malfunction repa ired as soon as possible by
an authorized Audi dealer or any ot her qualified
workshop.

Brake system
The warning/indicator light flashes if brake fluid
level is low, if there is an ABS system malfunc-
tion or a parking brake malfunction .

light illum inates when the ignition is t urned on .
It goes out afte r the e ng ine has been started .
This ind icates that the brake wa rni ng light is
funct io ning prope rly.
If th e brake warning light doe s not light up
when the engine is cranking, there may be a
malfunction in the electrical syst e m. In thi s
case, contact an authorized Audi dealer.
