Tips
For safety reasons, the parking brake is re-
leased automatically only when the dr iver's
safety belt is engaged in the buckle.
Hill descent control
The hill descent control system assists the driv-
ing when driving down declines.
Hill descent control is activated when the selec-
tor lever is in the Dor S position and you press
the brake pedal. The transm ission automatically
selects a gea r that is suitab le for the incline. Hill
desce nt control t ries to ma int ain the speed ach-
ieved at the time of b raking, within phys ica l and
technica l limitations . If may sti ll be necessary t o
adjust the speed with the brakes. Because hill de-
scent control cannot shift down fa rther than 3rd
gear, it may be necessary to shift into t iptronic
mode in very steep areas. In this case, shift into
1st or 2nd gear in tiptron ic mode to use the en-
g ine's braking force to relieve the brakes .
Hill descent control switches off once the decline
levels out or you press the accelerator pedal.
On vehicles with a cruise contro l system*

WARNING
Hill descent control cannot overcome physical
limitations, so it may not be able to maintain
a constant speed under al l condit ions. Always
be ready to apply the brakes .

Shifting manually (tiptronic mode)
The tiptronic allow the driver to shi~ the gears
manually.

You can shift into tiptronic mode wh ile sta tio nary
and wh ile driving.
