If the engine should not start immed iate ly, the
starting process is a utomat ically stopped after a
short time. Repeat the starting process .

WARNING
- Never allow the engine to run in confined
spaces - danger of asphyxiation.
- Never t urn off the engine before the vehicle
has come to a comp lete stop .
- The brake booster and power steering only
work when the engine is running . If the en-
gine is off, you have to use more force when
steering or braking . Because you cannot
steer and brake as you usually would, this
could lead to crashes and serious injuries.

Note
Avoid high engine speed, full throttle, and
heavy engine load as long as the engine has
not reached operat ing temperature
yet. You
could damage the engine.

For the sake of the environment
Do not let the engine run while parked to
warm up. Begin dr iving immediately. This re-
duces unnecessary emiss ions.

Tips
- Some noise after starting the engine is nor-
mal and is no cause for concern.
- If you leave the vehicle with the ignition
switched on, the ignition will switc h off af-
ter a certain amount of t ime. Make sure that
electr ical equipment such as the exterior
lights are switched off .

Emergency off
If it is necessary in unusua l circumstances, the
engine can be switched off whi le t he vehicle is
moving. Briefly press the
I
STAR T
ENGINE
ST OPI
button twice in a row or press and hold fo r longe r
than two seconds.

WARNING
- Never turn off the engine before the vehicle
has come to a complete stop.
- Please note that the brake booster and pow-
er steering only wo rk when the engine is
running. When the eng ine off, you must use
more force to steer or brake the vehicle. Be-
cause the usua l steering and braking capa-
bility is not available, the risk of acc idents or
injur ies increases.
- For safety reasons, always park the vehicle
wit h the selector lever in the P pos ition.

- After the eng ine has been switched off, the
radiato r fan can continue to run fo r up to 10
minutes - even with the igni t ion sw itched
off . It can a lso switch on ag a in after some
time if the coolant temperature
rises as the
res ult of heat bui ld up or if the engine com-
partment is heated by the sun's rays and the
engine is hot.

Note
If the engine has been under heavy load for
an extended period of time, heat builds up in
the eng ine compartment
after the engine is
switched off - there is a risk of damaging the
engine. For this reason, let the engine run for
at idle for approximate ly two minutes before
s hutting it off.
