WARNING
To help prevent poisonous exhaust gas from
being drawn into t he vehicle, always keep the
rear lid closed wh ile driving.
- Never t ransport objects larger than those
fitting completely into the luggage area be-
cause th e rear lid cannot be fully closed.
- If
you absolutely must drive with the rear lid
open, observe the follow ing notes to reduce
the risk of poisoning:
- Close all windows,
- Open a ll air outlets in the instrume nt pan-
el,
- Switch off the a ir recirculation,
- Set the fresh a ir fan to the highest speed .

WARNING
Always make sure that the doors, all windows
and the rea r lid are secu rely closed and locked
to redu ce the risk of injury when t he vehi cle is
not being used.
- After closing the rear lid, a lways make s ure
that it is properly closed and locked.
- Never leave yo ur vehicle unattended espe-
cially with the rea r lid left open. A child
cou ld crawl into t he vehi cle through the lug-
gage compartment and close the rear lid be-
coming trapped and unable to get out. Be-
ing trapped in a vehicle can lead to serious
persona l injury.
- Never let children play in or aro und the vehi-
cle .
- Never let passengers ride in the luggage
compartment.
Vehicle occupants must al-
ways be properly restra ined in one of the ve-
hicle's seating positions.

Tips
- Air circulation helps to reduce window fog-
ging. Sta le air escapes to the outside
through vents in the trim panel, on the left
side of the luggage compartment . Be sure
to keep these slots free and open.
Saf e d r ivi n g
- The tire pressure m ust correspond to the
load. The tire pressure is shown on the tire
pressu re label. The t ire pressure label is lo-
cated on the dr iver's side B-pillar. The tire
pressure label lists the recommended cold
tire inflation pressu res for the vehicle at its
maximum capac ity weight and the tires that
we re on your vehicle at the time it was man-
ufac t ured. For re commended ti re pressu res

Tie-downs
The luggage compar tment is equipped with four
tie-downs to se cure luggage and other items.

In a collision, the laws of physics mean that even
smaller items that are loose in the veh icle will
become heavy missiles that can cause serious in-
jury. Items in the vehicle possess energy which
vary with vehicle speed and the weight of the
item . Vehicle speed is the most sig nificant factor .
For example, in a frontal collision at a speed of
30 mp h (48 km/h), the forces acting on a 10 lbs
(4 .5 kg) object are about 20 times the normal
weight of the item . This means that the we ight
of the item would sudden ly be about
200 lbs (90 kg) . You can imag ine t he injuries tha t
a 200 lbs (90 kg) item flying free ly throug h the
passenger compartment
could cause in a colli-
sion like th is .
