The customer can use the new space by creating new vdisk sets from the available space. When
the vdisk sets are added to the existing file system (if needed), the restripe operation can be run.
For more information, see IBM Spectrum Scale: Administration Guide. When you are adding a vdisk
set to a file system, the default TRIM setting is "no" irrespective of the TRIM settings of the existing
vdisk sets. Issue the mmvdisk filesystem add command with the --trim {auto|no} option
to select TRIM settings when you are adding a vdisk set to a file system. For more information,
see Enable, disable, extend, and view TRIM settings on an existing declustered array and file system
in the Managing TRIM support for storage space reclamation chapter in IBM Spectrum Scale RAID:
Administration Guide.

ESS 3500 adapter concurrent MES upgrade

This procedure is intended to add the third adapter to each of the server canisters of IBM Elastic Storage
System 3500 during the concurrent (online) adapter MES installation.
For this concurrent upgrade, it is suggested to complete this operation during a period of low workload
stress.
Prerequisites
• All new or existing building blocks must be at the ESS 6.1.4 or higher.
• The following are the adapter options:
