2. Confirm the faulty power module location with the help of the power module LED. Each power module
of an IBM Elastic Storage System 3500 enclosure has a bi-color LED as shown in Figure 17 on page
11. The LED indicates the status of the power module, as described in Table 2 on page 11.

Behavior
Output ON and OK.
No AC power to all power supplies.
PSU standby state AC present / Only 12Vsb on
(PS off) / Cold standby state as defined in the
Cold Redundancy section.
AC cord unplugged with a second power supply
still with AC input power.
Power supply critical eveny causing a shutdown.
(Failure, over current, short circuit, over voltage,
fan failure, or over temperature.)
Power supply warning events where the power
supply continues to operate.
(High temp, high power, high current, or slow fan.)
Power supply firmware updating.
compatibility fault (function disabled if
compatibility pin is disabled).
Note: A faulty power module is expected to have amber LED ON. If both power modules require to
be repaired, repeat steps "3" on page 11 through "6" on page 12 for each faulty power module,
replace one power module at a time.
3. Unplug power cable to the faulty power module. Locations of power jacks where the power cables are
plugged in are highlighted in the following figure.
