Chapter 3. Setup and Operation of an IBM 5394 with a V.35
Communications Interface
Use this chapter if you are responsible for setting up, configuring, and operating
the IBM 5394 Remote Control Unit with a V.35 communications interface.
This chapter contains the following information about the V.35 communications
interface:
• Items you need to set up the IBM 5394
• Specific modifications to the setup procedure
• A new extended test procedure.
Using a V.35 communications interface does not affect other procedures and infor-
mation in the IBM 5394 Remote Control Unit Setup Guide or the IBM 5394 Remote
Control Unit Operator's Guide and Problem Determination Procedures.
Before Setup Checklist
Answer the following questions. If the answer to any of the questions is no, or if
you are not sure, contact the person who planned your communications network.
Check the box as you complete each step. Make sure this checklist is complete
before you begin setup.

Modem or DCE with V.35 support

Labeled work station cables.
