System Checkout and Troubleshooting
This chapter outlines a troubleshooting approach which is intended to
isolate a defective circuit board or other major assembly. This procedure
can also be used to determine whether all major modules of a new com-
puter are functioning properly.
Zenith Data Systems does not support service beyond the assembly or
module level. However, detailed circuit descriptions, schematics, and com-
plete parts lists are available in other publications referred to in Chapter
1 of this manual.
System Checkout Procedure
The system checkout procedure is a systematic approach for verifyiflg
proper operation of each module of the computer. The approach uses
the following sequence.
1.
Disconnect all peripherals from the computer.
2.
Verify general power is connected to the computer.
3.
Verify operation of the power supply.
4.
Verify operation of the LCD.
5.
Verify operation of the the floppy disk drives.
6.
Verify operation of the real-time
clock.
7.
Verify operation of the optional RGB video board.
8.
Verify operation of the optional modem board.
9.
Use disk-based diagnostics (CB-5063-28) to verify specific operation. .
