Operation
Icons
Most of the icon functions are available without booting a disk operating
system. Some of the icon keys have two different functions, which are
explained in the following discussion.
Clock/Calendar Icon
Phone Icon
Disk Icon
Calculator Icon
Pressing this key displays the clock, calendar, and
world map. At this point the set-up options may be
accessed or the time in another time zone may be
displayed.
Pressing this key displays a personal phone directory.
The computer will dial a number picked from this
directory. This key may also be used to turn the
computer into a terminal for interfacing with another
computer.
When the computer is first turned on, the world map
is displayed if the computer is not set to autoboot.
In this case, pressing this key will initiate the boot
sequence. While a program is being run, it can be
interrupted by pressing another icon key. Pressing the
disk icon key will return the user to the previous place
in the program.
Pressing this key will activate the four- function cal-
culator. This icon also implements the IO-key keypad
labeled in blue letters. Refer to the Calculator Key-
board Operation section in this chapter.
