Enable or disable flow control for Ethernet
ports
EEE 802.3x flow control works by pausing a port if the port becomes oversubscribed
(that is, the port receives more traffic than it can process) and dropping all traffic for
small bursts of time until the port is no longer congested.
By default, flow control is enabled for all ports. A situation might occur in which you
want to disable flow control for a port. For example, for some types of voice over IP
(VoIP) phones, if you connect the VoIP phone to an Ethernet port, you might want to
disable flow control on the Ethernet port.
To enable or disable flow control for one or more Ethernet ports:
1. Launch a web browser from a computer or mobile device that is connected to the
router network.
2. Enter http://www.routerlogin.net.
A login window displays.
3. Enter the router admin user name and password.
The user name is admin. The password is the one that you specified when you set
up your router. The user name and password are case-sensitive.
The BASIC Home page displays.
4. Select ADVANCED > Advanced Setup > Ethernet Settings.
The Ethernet Settings page displays.
5. In the Enable flow control section, for each Ethernet port, select or clear the check
box.
Selecting the check box for a port enables flow control for the port. Clearing the
check box for a port disables flow control for the port. By default, flow control is
enabled for all ports.
6. Click the Apply button.
Your settings are saved.
