2.3.1 Prepare tubing

1. Cut the tube squarely and remove any burrs.
2. Mark from end of tube the length of insertion. The insertion length of Midas S2 from the
end of tube is 15.5 mm.
NOTE: When inserting the tube into the inlet/outlet port of the Midas S2, make sure that it
is inserted up to the marked position.

2.4 In-Line Filters

External filters must be used to protect the tubing from contamination. Use particulate filter
part number 780248 for normal gases and 1830-0055 or 1991-0147 for corrosive gases.
Replace the filter every 3 months. Refer to the Topic 6.6: Gases Table for specific gases.

2.5 Local Detector Option

The Midas S2 gas detector can also be used to monitor for gas at the location of the detector.
To do this, an inline filter is connected to the gas inlet port with the proper filter option of In-
Line Filters. The area around the detector is then being monitored as opposed to a sample
being drawn from a remote location.
