Installation and connection
Before setting up, make sure that the iano items are at ra 1. remote control, 2. satarioe! 3. coaxial
cable, 4. guarantee card and an envelope, 5. quick set-up guide.
If there are any items missing, contact your
dealer. Dispose of the accessory bag safely.
Safe use of this VCR
Before you choose a place for your VCR, please note the following:
Never allow this appliance to be exposed to rain or moisture

(danger of shorting and electric shock), or in a workshop
(problem of dust, vibration or magnetic disturbance). Keep the VCR away
from heat sources (radiators or direct sunlight) and air conditioning
equipment.

Do net obstruct the air vents by covering the VCR. Do not
install the VCR in a confined space. If you are installing the
VCR into a bookcase or built in cabinet make sure there is sufficient air
circulation. Overheating will cause damage and shorten the life of this
VCR.
Place on a solid, vibration free surface.
Avoid large variations in temperature and dampness. Con-
densation may ruin the tapes and tape transport. Should the
i)
VCR be subject to a wide temperature change on installation, switch the
VCR to ON but do not operate the VCR for about two hours. The VCR will
gradually warm up, and disperse any condensation.
Do not place heavy objects such as a television on top of the
VCR. The casing may become warped.
Do not touch the

inside of the VCR or insert any foreign objects of any kind. Foreign bodies
can damage the VCR considerably.
Never place containers of liquid on the VCR (e.g. vases of
>
flowers or drinks). Liquid spillage can lead to fire, electric
shock or shorting.
Please ensure that all electrical connections (including the
mains plug, extension leads and interconnections between
>
pieces of equipment) are in accordance with the manufacturer's instruc-
tions.
Always withdraw the mains
plug when
making or changing
connections.
A damaged mains lead is a potential fire or shock hazard.
When unplugging your VCR, pull it out of the socket by

means of the plug (not the lead). Ensure the lead is notin contact with the
appliance surface for long periods. When going away for a long period of
time always disconnect the VCR from the mains and remove the aerial
lead.

When you finish operating your VCR always unload the cas-
sette and tum off the VCR's POWER.
Remember the VCR
will still be connected to the mains voltage when the POWER is turned off.
Wipe the VCR with a soft, dry, clean cloth or a clean cloth
slightly moistened with a mild detergent.
If you are ever in
doubt about the installation, operation or safety of your equipment, contact
your dealer.
If you are in any doubt about the VCR working normally, or

if it is Gamaged in any way - switch off, withdraw the mains
plug and consult your dealer. Never remove any fixed cover as this may
expose dangerous voltages.
Do not leave equipment switched on when it is unattended
[>
unless it is specifically stated that it is designed for unatten-
ded operation or has a stand-by mode.
For switching the equipment off,
special arrangements may need to be made for infirm or handicapped
people.
Mains lead connection
The mains lead on this VCR is fitted with a non-rewireale
[>
mains plug, incorporating a 3A fuse. If you need to replace the fuse, is@
a 3A fuse approved by BS! or ASTA to BS 1362, ensuring you refit the fise
cover. If the mains plug is not suitable for the sockets in your home, ind
you require to remove the plug, remove the fuse, cut off the plug tem
dispose of the plug immediately, to avoid a possible electric shock hazird.
To refit a new plug, follow the instructions below:
Blue: Neutral, Brown: Live
As the colours in the mains jead of this VCR may not correspond withhe
coloured markings identifying the terminats in your plug, proceedas
follows. The wire which is coloured Blue must be connected to the termnaal
which is marked with the letter N or coloured Black.
The wire whic is
coloured Brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with
the letter L or coloured Red.
Do not connect either wire to the termnaal
which is marked with the letter Eorthe earthsymbol
orcoloured Ghe mn
or Green and Yellow.
