Usingthe Semi-OSD System
Theoutputlevelsmayalsobeadjusted at anytime
usingthe remote control a ndsemi-OSD system.
Toadjusttheoutputlevelsinthisfashion, p ressthe
TestButton Q.
Assoonasthe butlonis pressed,
thetesttonewillbeginto circulate a s indicated e arlier.
Thecorrect c hannel fromwhichthe testnoiseshould
be heardwillbe showninthe lowerthirdof thevideo
screen andinthe Lower DisplayLine [_i_.While
thetest noise is circulafing, the proper c hannel
position willalsobe indicated i n theSpeaker/
ChannelInput Indicators[]
bya blinking letter
withinthe correct c hannel.
Toadjusttheoutputlevel, p ressthe A/V Buttons
untilthe desired level i s showninthe display or
on screen, O ncethe buttons am released, thetest
noisewill beginto circulate againin 5 seconds.
When all channels havethe sameoutputlevel, p ress
the TestButton _
againto complete the process.
If youfindthatthe outputlevels areeitheruncomfort-
ablylow or high,youmayrepeat t he procedure, but
firstadjust t he master v olume eitherslightly higheror
lower(butnot higher t hanOdB) to compensate. Do
not adjust t he volume during the procedure, asthatwill
causethe outputlevels to be higheror lower f oronly
somechannels, resulting inuneven balance.
Tomakechannel l evel a djustments to an external
source, r ather t hanusingtheAVR's internal t esttone,
simply pressthe ChannelSelect Button ii_), and
eachindividual channel andits level o ffset w ill be dis
playedon screen in thesemi-OSD display. Thisis the
equivalent of usingthe C HA NN EL A D J US t
menuwiththe testtonesetto 0 F F.
NOTE: O utput l evel a djustment is notavailable forthe
VMAxor Surround Offmodes.
Additional InputAdjustments
Afteroneinputhasbeenadjusted br Surround mode,
digital i nput(if any), s peaker t ypeandoutputlevels,
go backto the I NP UT S ET UP lineon the
MASTER MENU (Figure 1) andenterthe set
tingsforeachinputthatyouwill use,Inmostcases,
onlythe digital i nputandsurround modewill bediffer
ent fromoneinputto the next,whiletile speaker t ype,
crossover frequency, Nightmodeandoutputlevel
settings will usually bethe sameandmaybe quickly
entered by entering thesamedatausedforthe
original i nput.
Whenall settings a ndadjustments havebeenmade,
presstheOSDButton _
to returnto normal o per
ationof theAVR.
Oncethe settings outlined on the previous p ages have
beenmade, t heAVR335 is ready foroperation. While
thereare someaddifional settings to be made, t hese
am bestdoneafferyouhavehadan opportunity t o lis
ten to a variety of sources anddifferent k indsof pro
grammaterial. These advanced settings a redescribed
on pages33 and34. Inaddition, a nyof the se11:ings
madeintheinitial c onfiguration of theunitmaybe
changed at anytime.Asyouaddnewor different
sources or speakers, or if youwishto change a setting
to betterreflect y ourlistening t aste, s imply followthe
instructions forchanging tile settings forthatparame
terasshowninthissection.
