Automated Speaker Setup Using EzSet+
TheAVR335 is oneof thefirstreceivers i nits classto
offerautomated s peaker s etupandsystem calibration.
Thisprocess greatly simplifies t heinstallation o f your
newreceiver b y using a seriesof testsignals and
thepowerof anadvanced d igitalsignal p rocessing
system to eliminate t he needfor manual adjustment
of speaker " size". crossover, delay andoutputlevel
settings. WithEzSet÷yournewreceiver e venalerts
youto errors in speaker c onnections thatprevent a
speaker t romfunctioning.
WithEzSet÷ youareableto calibrate yoursystem ina
flactionof the timeit wouldtaketo enterthe settings
manually, andwithresults thatrival t hoseachieved with
expensive t estequipment andtime consuming p roce
dures. T heendresult i s a system calibration profile
thatenables yournewreceiver t o deliver t he bestpos
siblesound, n o matter whattypeof speakers y ouhave
or whatthe dimensions o f yourlistening roomare.
Werecommend t hatyoutakeadvantage ofthe preci
sionof EzSet÷ to calibrate yoursystem, b ut if desired
youmayalsomakeanyof theconfigurafion s ettings
manually, or trimthe settings provided by EzSet÷ by
following the instructions on pages22 through 26.
If youwishto configure yourAVRmanually, or if for
somereason yourEzSet÷ microphone i s unavailable,
youmaystilldo so byfollowing the instructions on
pages22 through26.
Step 1: EzSet÷ requires t hatyourlistening roomhave
aslittlebackground n oise as possible to avoidinte_ier-
ingwiththe measurement of tonesproduced byyour
AVRduringthesetupprocedure. Turn off all loudfans,
airconditioners andotherequipment, andtry to avoid
making anynoiseduringtheprocess.
Step2: TheEzSet÷ microphone s houldbe placed in
eitheryourusual l istening position oT, i f thereisa large
seating area,the centerof the room, a t the listeners'
earlevel. Y oumayfindit convenient to usea camera
tripodfor stable placement of the EzSet÷microphone
at thecorrect h eight. T hemicrophone i ncludes a
threaded insert o n thebottomfor tripodmounfi%.
Step3: Plug the EzSet+microphone i ntothe
AVR335's Headphone Jack I_J, making certain
thatthe mini-plug to 1/4" phoneplugadaptor s up
pliedwiththe microphone i sfirmlyconnected. The
microphone c ableis approximately 20 feetlong.

Step4: Oncethe microphone i s properly positioned
andplugged in.proceed to the EzSet+ menus by

Step5: Thefirstscreen of the EzSet+ system will

Whilethisscreen is visible, youmaystartandstopthe
calibration process, or monitor the progress ofthe
measuroments andviewthe results. Whenthescreen
firstappears, youwill see MEA SU RE ME NT :
