Delay Settings
Dueto the different d istances b etween the listening
position forthe flontchannel s peakers a ndthe sur
roundspeakers, the amount o f timeit takesfor sound
to reach yourearsfromthefrontversus surround
speakers d iffers. Y oumaycompensate f orthisdiffer
encethrough the useof the delaysettings t o adjust
thetimingforthespeakerplacement andacoustic
conditions inyourlistening roomor hometheater.
If youhavealready calibrated y oursystem using
EzSet+ the delaysarongs s hown will reflect t he results
of the measurements madeby EzSet+. N ofurther
changes a reneeded unless youwishto change an
itemto reflect y ourtasteor a nonstandard system
configuration. Tochange the settings, followthe
instructions b elow to enterthedistance between the
speaker's location andyourmainlistening position.
Themeasurements neednot beaccurate to the inch,
asthe system is designed to accommodate t ypical
listening rather t hanaspecific "sweet s pot"position.
inaddition to adjusting thedelaytimeforeachindivid-
ualspeaker p osition, t heAVR335 allowsyouto adjust
the delay for thecombined outputof all speakers a sa
group. T hisfeature is called AN SyncDelay; i t allows
youto compensate f ordelays to thevideoimage that
maybe caused bythe processing i nproducts suchas
digital v ideodisplays, videoscalers, digitalcableor
satellite systems, or personal videorecorders. With
properadjustment ofthe settingforAN SyncDelay,
youcaneliminate thelossof lip syncthatmaybe
caused bydigitalvideo applications.
Although EzSet+ calculates t he delaysetlngsfor the
individual speaker p osifions w ithveryaccurate results,
the setting forAN SyncDelay mayonlybedone
manually, since it squiresthatyouobserve the pro
grammaterial on yourvideodisplay whileadjusting the
delay, i f any,required forthe specific sause.Thus,
eventhoughyou mayhaveusedEzSet+ forother
delaysettings, theAN SyncDelay shouldstillbecon-
figuredasoutlined below.
Dueto the differences i nthewaysurround modes
operate, someallowfora widerrangeof delaytimes
thanothers. We recommend t hatdelaytimesbe
adjusted using the DobyDigital m ode.If a different
modeisselected at a latertime,theAVR335 will
autemafically restrict t he delaysettings to those
required bythe surround modeinuse.
