Single Garage Door
• Determine which side of the garage receives
direct sunlight.
• Position the Transmitter (Red LED) on the direct
sunlight side.
NOTE: Only use Safe-T-Beams® that are included or UL listed for use with this operator. DO
NOT use other brands or types of photocells on this operator.
Install and Wire Safe-T-Beams® (STB) - W/COMM BRACKET (Std. Equip.)
1. Position Safe-T-Beam® (STB) Transmitter and Receiver on each side of garage door 5"- 6" above floor. Face
the lenses towards each other.
2. Mark bracket mounting holes; drill 3/32" pilot holes and secure with (4) 1/4" x 1-1/4" lag screws (provided)
into wood. If mounting into concrete or block, other fasteners are required and are available at leading
retail stores.
3. Route 2 lengths of supplied wire from operator, along the ceiling, across the header and down both sides
of the door, to each sensor. Secure the wire to the ceiling and walls using the insulated staples (green bag).
Use 22 or 24 gauge wire only.
4. On the operator: insert both wires down through the control wire channel. Remove 1/4" insulation from
both sets of white and striped wire. Twist two white wires together. Using a small flat head screwdriver,
press in the orange tab at terminal 1 and insert the wires. Twist the two striped wires together and insert
into terminal 2. Ensure the wires are in their terminal, adjust as necessary.
5. At each sensor, remove 1/4" insulation from the white and striped wires and secure in each terminal. Ensure
the wires are secure at each terminal; adjust as necessary. This wiring is not polarity sensitive.
Wired Monitored Reflective Photocells (Optional)
1. Position reflective bracket and photocells per instructions provided with kit.
2. Attach both wires to operators STB terminals. Not polarity sensitive.

Multiple Garage Doors
• NEVER position Safe-T-Beam® modules where
signals will cross.
• Place the Transmitter (Red LED) Safe-T-Beams on
adjacent doors facing in opposite directions.
NOTE: Direct sunlight creates interference with
Safe-T-Beam
Receiver (Green LED). STB modules
®
CAN be positioned further away from the door
opening if necessary to avoid sunlight but no
further off the wall to maintain alignment with
the Transmitter (Red LED) module.
