Fuel System
Maintenance
WARNING
Fuel-system components are under high
pressure. The use of improper components
can result in system failure, fuel leakage, and
possible explosion.
Use only approved fuel lines and fuel filters.
Draining the Fuel
Filter/Water Separator
Service Interval: Every 50 hours—Drain the fuel
filter/water separator.
1.
Park the machine on a level surface, disengage
the blade-control switch, and engage the parking
brake.
2.
Shut off the engine, remove the key, and wait
for all moving parts to stop before leaving the
operating position.
3.
Place a drain pan under the fuel filter and loosen
the drain plug approximately 1 turn

After the water drains and fuel begins to flow
from the filter, tighten the drain plug.
Important:
Water or other contaminants in
fuel can damage the fuel pump and/or other
engine components.
Changing the Water
Separator
Service Interval: Every 400 hours—Replace the
(Figure
44).
