Description

On indicator: Indicates the 3274 is powered on.
IML (Initial Machine Load) pushbutton: Pressing and holding causes a basic
assurance test to run. When the pushbutton is released, IML tests start. At
completion, the machine is loaded. With the Integrated Modem feature, the
integrated modem self·test requires a power-on reset to run.

Alt IML Address switch:
Position 1: Holding, while momentarily pressing the IML pushbutton,
bypasses the IML tests and loads the machine directly. Use only after
normal 1M L fai Is .
Position 2: Holding, while pressing the lML pushbutton, causes
remote interface tests to run.
Pressing and holding causes the integrated modem self-test to run and to
repeat approximately every 4 seconds, until the switch is released.

8 4 2 1 indicators: These light while the IML pushbutton is held. During
IML, they follow the test sequence. At completion, they all go out. During
operation, they indicate operational status.

Encrypt/Decrypt key switch: In the horizontal position, allows a new master
key code to be entered.

Encrypt/Decrypt battery: Maintains the master key code in the 3274 when
power is off.

Good/Poor data-quality indicators: Indicate the quality of received data as
follows:

Marginal signal quality (about three bit errors

lWhen the integrated modem self-test is run by use of the ALT 2 switch, the
Poor indicator should Ught jf the self-test is failing. The indicator turns off
when the switch is released.

Test: This indicator is on when the integrated modem is in test mode. Test
mode is entered when the self-test is running, when a test function is being
run from the central site modem, or when the link problem determination aid
(LPDA) host-invoked diagnostics are running.

Operate: This indicator shows that the integrated modem is ready to exchange
data with the attached TP network.

Modem Address switches (S): These eight switches provide the address for
host-invoked LPDA diagnostic tests. The address switches should correspond
to the 3274 address that was customized.
