Preface
This manual contains 3274 operator reference information and
3274 subsystem problem determination procedures. It is
intended for the operator of the IBM 3274 Control Unit and for
the person who does problem determination.
For the purposes of this manual, the 3274 subsystem consists of
a 3274 Control Unit, attached 3299 Terminal Multiplexer units,
and attached printers and display stations.
Organization of Manual
This manual has two sections:
Section 1, "Operator Information," briefly describes the
various models of the 3274 Control Unit, discusses the care
and use of diskettes, and identifies and describes the
functions of the various switches and indicators (lights) on
the 3274 operator panel. The switches and indicators on a
3274 operator panel are model- and feature-dependent;
therefore, you must select the appropriate figure in the
guide when reviewing this type of data about your 3274.
In addition, this section explains:
The Encrypt/Decrypt feature, which can be installed in
the 3274 ModellC, 2lC, 3lC, 4lC, 5lC, or 6lC
The 3274 Dial-Up telephone facilities
The /3 Test (status summary display test), which you
use to obtain statistical information about the various
elements of your 3274 subsystem.
Section 2, "Problem Determination," contains an overview
of problem determination from a subsystem perspective,
