Saving and Recalling

The save/recall functions allow you to save and recall a 4286A setting, measurement data, or
display image.
The 4286A has two kinds of mass storage, a built-in exible drive and a RAM disk memory.
Each mass storage supports two kinds of format, LIF (Logical Interchange Format) and
MS-DOS R
. The 4286A automatically detects the disk format as either LIF or MS-DOS R
Caution
The les on the RAM disk are kept until the 4286A is turned o . When the
4286A is turned o , the data on the RAM disk is lost.

Saving 4286A Setting and Measurement Trace

1. Insert a LIF or MS-DOS R
saving an instrument state le to the RAM disk, skip this step. See \Initializing a Disk/RAM
Disk for Use" in the following section for how to initialize your disk.

Recalling a Saved 4286A Setting and Measurement Trace

1. Insert the appropriate disk (if you are recalling an instrument state le from the RAM disk,
skip this step).

4. Search for the lename you want to recall (the les are listed as softkey labels).

RECALL FILE , and the name of each stored le is listed as a softkey label. Press the
softkey that corresponds to the target le.
6. If the target le is not found on any softkey label, scroll other labels by pressing

7. Press the softkey corresponding to the target le.
Note
You can automatically recall the instrument state every time the 4286A is
turned ON. Use \ AUTOREC " as a lename. The 4286A recalls this le from a disk
that is in the built-in disk drive when it is turned ON.
