Updating the firmware

The following options are available to perform a firmware update on a reader:
• Using the Uploader
For RF1000
• Using the WBM
For RF1100
These alternative methods are described below.
Performing a firmware update via Uploader (RF1000)
Requirements
• The Uploader has been installed on your computer.
• An RF1000 reader that is connected to the computer.
• An update file in "*.bf2" file format
Procedure
Follow these steps to perform a firmware update of the RF1000 reader using the Uploader:
1. Open the Uploader by double-clicking the "bf2uploader.exe" file.
2. Click on the "Browse..." button on the top right and select the desired update file ("*.bf2").
3. Click "Select Reader".
4. Select the desired reader in the list and click "Select".
If multiple interfaces are displayed in the list, select the "HID" entry.
5. Click "Start Wired Upload".
Result: The firmware update is performed. As soon as the update has been completed, the
reader automatically performs a restart and the reader information is updated.
Performing a firmware update via WBM (RF1100)
Requirements
• An RF1100 reader that is connected to the PC via Industrial Ethernet.
• The RF1100 reader was disconnected from runtime operation.
• The required update file (*.sfw) is stored locally.
Procedure
Follow these steps to perform a firmware update of the RF1100 reader using the WBM:
1. Start your Web browser.
2. Enter the IP address of the reader in the address field of your browser.
