Troubleshooting

Loose, broken or grounded wiring may cause many of the symptoms listed.
Problem
Unit will not come on.
Unit will turn on electrically
but will not heat.
Excessive flame rollout on
ignition, carboning.
Unit slow to preheat and slow
to recover.
Pilot continuously blows out
Pilot will not light

NOTICE
Check all wiring and make sure it is intact.
Power switch is off.
Unit not plugged in.
Main power supply off.
Fuse in unit blown.
Thermostat not on.
Gas valve in unit off.
Bad main gas solenoid.
Main gas supply off.
Bad pressure switch.
Piolet out.
Bad thermostat.
Low water.
Natural gas unit on propane.
Excessive gas pressure.
Incorrect orifice size.
Propane gas on natural.
Low gas pressure.
Incorrect orifice sizes.
Faulty regulator in gas control.
Loss of vacuum.
Pilot gas adjusted too low.
Excessive draft condition.
Excessive steam around bottom of unit during operation or
cleaning.
Bad thermocouple.
Bad gas control.
Loose thermocouple connection.
Thermocouple not mounted to pilot correctly.
Gas control valve not on pilot position.
Bad thermocouple.
Bad main gas control.
