17 COOLING SYSTEM

Cooling system

Water pump
in the engine ensures forced circulation of the
coolant.
The pressure resulting from the warming of the cooling system is

regulated by a valve in radiator cap
. Heat expansion causes

excess coolant to flow into compensating tank
. When the tem-
perature falls, this surplus coolant is sucked back into the cooling
system. This ensures that operating the vehicle at the specified
coolant temperature will not result in a risk of malfunctions.

The coolant is cooled by the air stream and a radiator fan
,
which is activated at high temperature.
The lower the speed, the less the cooling effect. Dirty cooling fins
also reduce the cooling effect.
