5-5 Installing Memory
Caution: Exercise extreme care when installing or removing DIMM modules to
prevent any possible damage.

Memory Support

The X9DRG-HF+II/X9DRG-HTF+II supports up to 1 TB of ECC LRDIMMs, 512 GB
of ECC RDIMMs or 128 GB of ECC/non-ECC UDIMMs in 16 DIMM slots (DDR3-
1866/1600/1333/1066/800 MHz). See the following tables for memory installation.
Notes: Memory speed support is dependent on the type of CPU used on the board.
Installing Memory Modules
1. Insert the desired number of DIMMs into the memory slots, starting with
P1-DIMM 1A. For best memory performance, please install memory modules
of the same type and same speed on the memory slots as indicated on the
tables below.
2. Insert each DIMM module vertically into its slot. Pay attention to the notch
along the bottom of the module to avoid installing incorrectly (see Figure 5-3).
3. Gently press down on the DIMM module until it snaps into place in the slot.
Repeat for all modules.
To Install:

To Remove:
Use your thumbs to
gently push the release
tabs near both ends of
the module. This should
release it from the slot.
