Add, Configure, and Connect: Remote Network Element

This section explains how to add a subtended NE to a GNE in the Nav Pane, configure it in the
Config Pane, and connect to it.
The configuration of a remote NE is different than the configuration of a GNE. As a GNE
already has a negotiated connection to a subtended NE, IP addresses, port numbers, and other
such information is not required; the GNE already 'knows' how to connect to the NE.
To add and configure a new Remote NE, complete the following steps:

OPTI-APPS automatically changes the TID to all UPPERCASE letters.

If the OPTI-6100 NE is provisioned for case-sensitive Login information,
the User ID must match the expected value precisely.

NOTICE
If the OPTI-6100 NE is provisioned for case-sensitive Login information,
the Password must match the expected value precisely. OPTI-APPS saves
this Password for automatic re-connections and menu session logins.

Right-click the subtending GNE and select Add Remote NE.
A new NE box appears in the Nav Pane, below the GNE.
Click the new NE box (<No TID>) in the Nav Pane to select it.
In the Config Pane, enter the exact TID of the subtended NE in the TID field.
In the User ID field, enter a valid User ID (Account Name) for that system.
Click OK to save this information.
Click Login.
The Login dialog appears
Enter the Password, and then click OK to log in.
