    This chapter introduces the Voice Services software components and lists the hardware and software required to install and use them. This chapter also lists any prerequisites needed before starting the installation process.     Recommended: • Before You Install Before installing the Voice Services software components, review any prerequisite information contained in each chapter. This information describes the hardware, software, and any miscellaneous items required before installing a component. Make sure all prerequisites are installed, operating correctly, and available before proceeding with the installation process.

    SQL Database License Limits Database connection licenses are acquired and released on a per request or need basis. The Control Center and Voice Gateway applications operate at a higher priority and must have their license available in order to process their request immediately rather than queuing up in a first-in first-out manner.

    Before starting the installation process, do the following: • Make sure the system on which you plan to install the software is set up and configured with the items listed in • Make sure any prerequisite hardware or software is installed and operating correctly.

    The registration file has the file name extension .reg and is stored in the path, \NetSpeak\config\. If the Voice Services software is re-installed on (moved to) another computer, the same registration file can be used only if the associated hardware key is connected to the parallel port of the new computer.

    Voice Services Software Installation Guide Database Implications The Microsoft SQL Server has a scratch database that it uses to manage queries, temporary tables, and temporary data of any type. This scratch database is named tempdb. By default, the Gateway Routing Manager database is 20 MB when it is installed.
