REPLACE TRACTION BELTS

Remove Traction Belt
1. Stop engine, remove key and wait for all
moving parts to stop and for hot parts to
cool.
2. Release the steering levers.
3. Raise the rear of the unit so the drive
wheels are off the ground.
See Figure 27.
4. Disconnect clutch idler pulley spring.
5. Remove traction belt guard.
WARNING: AVOID INJURY. An
extension spring, when
extended, stores energy and can
be dangerous. Always use tools
specifically designed for
installing or removing an
extension spring. Always
compress or extend springs
slowly.
6. Remove hair pin and trunnion securing
steering control rod to wheel clutch
weldment.
7. While slowly turning the drive wheel,
remove the traction belt from the
transmission shaft pulley and drive wheel.
Install Traction Belt
1. Install traction belt
2. Connect steering control rod to wheel
clutch arm weldment with trunnion and
hair pin.
3. Reinstall traction belt guard.
4. Reinstall clutch idler pulley spring.
5. Lower the unit.
6. Check steering lever adjustment. See
Adjust Steering Levers on page 21.
