4.4 RS-485 network

The RS-485 network uses differential signals and is therefore a relatively inexpensive network
capable of long-distance high-speed communication. A 2-wire type is often used for the wiring.
The maximum line length is 1,200 m, and the maximum communication speed decreases according
to the distance.
Shielded twisted pair wire for RS-485 is recommended for the wiring. Connect the daisy chain as
necessary and connect the terminating resistor to the final end.
